Here's a gorgeous Vintage 1960's Day Dress in a "Leopard Butterfly" pattern by Designer Mr Simon with a Full Skirt, 3-quarter Sleeves, Scooped Shawl Collar Neckline and a Fun Mad Men, Rockabilly style Full Skirt!
This is an early 1960s dress by Mr. Simon. I fell in love with the fabric of this dress first with it's leopard spotted butterfly pattern... so fun! Followed by that adorable collar which wraps over the shoulders and along the back with both ends slipping through a fabric loop at the center front creating a bow look. It has various shades of brown, stormy gray and touches of tan with tiny random flecks of cream. Three-quarter length sleeves that have two horizontal seams towards the ends, slenderizing the arms. The bodice of the dress is shaped with seaming front and back. There is a metal zipper on the side seam beginning a few inches beneath the left underarm. Natural waistline has full gathers/pleats surrounding it and has loops for a belt, no belt is included. Nearly 5.5 inches of fabric is folded under at the hemline, so she can easily be lengthened if you wish and a nicely flared, full skirt that will easily support a fluffy crinoline beneath!
Please check the measurements below against a similar garment before ordering, as this sale is final... thank you!
Measurements lying flat and doubled for circumference where appropriate:
Underarm to underarm: 40" around
Bust: 38" around, working best on 34-35 inches and no more than 36 inches around
Waist: 26" around
Hips: Full
'
Length from shoulder: 41"
Would best fit a Small/Medium.
This dress is in excellent vintage condition with the only things I can find to tell you about is it probably originally came with a matching belt that has ended up elsewhere and some *very* *very* teeny pills to the fabric that fortunately is at the underside of the arms and I literally had to use a large magnifying glass to view it at all... Other than that, I see no other condition issues. No size or fabric tag. It *might* be a lightweight Dupioni silk (or could even be a high-end cotton/poly blend)... it does have a nice subtle sheen and texture to the weave, however it's difficult to say for sure, so this is just a best guess..
